Reference 9 reliability.
« on: 10 Aug 2008, 11:37 am »
Hello,

I bought one reference 9 amplifier for my subwoofer from a guy on audiogon; he said that they are NOS.
The amplifier worked for a couple of hours and in the next morning when I turned the amp on it stopped working.
It makes a switch noise and then there is no music only a low rattling noise.

I already contacted the help desk.

I want to ask about reliability of Nuforce amplifiers?
I believe that the amp don't have any warranty, is it worth upgrading to the V2 instead of fixing it?

Yehuda.

I own 9 V2 upgrades.. One of the units developed some kind of problem after about a year. One thing I can say is that the service from Nuforce is excellent. The unit was under warranty. I had it back within two weeks. They don't repair things I'm told, they replcae them with new parts. As for the difference between the original model and V2 it's a significant improvement in sound quality.

Do you leave the amp on all the time?  I used to do that, until mine died.  Nuforce replaced it.  I've heard this is a problem with these amps, so it's not recommended to leave them on.  After learning this, I used a Monster power center to turn the amp on when I turned my system on.
