DI/O upgrade questions. . .
« on: 10 Jan 2003, 09:53 pm »
Well, I am about to take the plunge and get my DI/O modded to the smArt version.  I am just wondering, generally speaking, that it will be one of those significant upgrades.  I have heard great things about the mods, I am just wondering just how big a difference this is over the stock DI/O which I've been using close to a year.

System:

Sony NS500V used as transport w/ stock DI/O
Bottlehead Foreplay Preamp
GR-Research Paradox-1s
Norh LeAmps
VMPS Smaller Sub w/ Megawoofer
QSC RMX-850 powering sub
DIY Chris Venhaus Cat-5 speaker cable
Bolder Type-1 Interconnects

thanks,

p

i am using a Behringer Super-X Pro. .(not sure of exact model number right now)

anyways, to clarify my setup, I am using both outputs on my DVD player . . .the SPDIF output goes into the DI/O and then into my Foreplay and then the Le Amps to power my P1s

the optical output goes into my Kenwood HT receiver, then outputs into the crossover, then from there, into my QSC.  Basically, the crossover is not only used as a crossover, but also to sum the stereo signal using its subwoofer output.

p,

There is a major difference between a stock and smART DI/O.

There is also quite an upgrade to the sound when using the power supply I offer.

Read Tyson's review here. I think it will answer most of your questions :)
