I tried both ways, and ended up without inverting the phase. Inverting the phase, i found that the sound was diffuse, and had exaggerated bass. Try both ways, and stick to what sounds best to you.

Well I tried inverted phase for a while and I agree with Cacophonix, bloated bass and almost sounded 1970's "quadrophonic".  I recently rolled in a pair of Radiotechniques and the Candela sound is incredible.  Depth, clarity, bass impact and overall soundstage much improved.  More to come...

I too recently took ownership of a Candela paired with a Stratos Extreme SE.  I was wondering what you do in terms of shutting off the preamp.  I noticed even if I put the Candela into HT bypass mode that when I shut it off I still get an audible pop from my speakers, which makes me nervous.  I don't like the fact that I have to shut my stratos down first because of the warm up time on this amplifier. 

What are you doing?

I've never experienced any sort of pop.  I leave the Candela on most of the time.  If I'm going to be a way for a while, week or so, I'll turn off the Candela, but I leave the amps on all of the time. 

I do have a transformer hum in my amps prior to the Candela tube circuits catching then its clear, about 20 seconds or so.

Edit:  Try turning down the volume on the Candela prior to turning it off, if you still have a problem.  Just a thought.
