Off-RAMP I2S vs RWA SB3 with Battery digital out
« on: 27 Mar 2008, 06:08 pm »
Hi all,
Has anyone compared Off-RAMP I2S vs RWA SB3 w/ Battery digital mod ?  Since SB3 is unable to support 24/96, I am thinking of Off-RAMP I2S upsampling option to my Turbo mod DAC1 (need I2S upgrade too) and replacing my SB3.  To me, all come to sonic performance.  Will I gain a lot going this route ?

Another option for me is to keep my SB3 and go the Peace Car route but this is still only running 16/44.1 redbook. Which will give me best bank for the $$$ (Peace Car vs 24/96 upsampling) ?

Any comment ?  Many thanks in advance..  :)

IMO, the I2S interface on the DAC-1 is beneficial whether or not you stay with the SB3 and use a Pace-Car or go to the Off-Ramp I2S.

At CES this year, all listeners preferred the Off-Ramp I2S using Foobar 0.8.3 and SRC upsampled to 24/96.  I used XP and unmapped the device.  If you are using Mac, this may not be the case.
