Lisa's last album The Silver Tree might be worth a look the music doesn't quite build up to huge crescendos but it is still interesting in a different way, it’s slow like Sigur Ros but darker and with a far sparser production.
Wow, a post-rock-ish thread on AC, woohoo! All of the prior suggestions are good in their own ways. As far as similarity to Sigur Ros, I would say a lot of Godspeed You Black Emperor is the closest, in my opinion. Buildup; quieter parts and crashing crescendos, lots of ethereal sounds at times.-Eric
Godspeed is one of those bands that you hear nothing but good things about, so naturally you would be inclined to listen to them, but I am sad to say I just do not. I don't know why that happens with certain artists with me. Like I just KNOW I SHUOLD own a few albums and don't...strange. Maybe there's just too much good music out there to be consumed.
