With Doc & Ron's permission we are sponsoring a charity fund-raiser at VSAC that will aspire to raise money for an orphanage in Ethiopia. My wife and I are in the process of adopting a child from Ethiopia and we have gotten involved in helping support the expansion of the orphanage that houses him in Ethiopia. Ethiopia, like many other African countries is dealing with the AIDS pandemic and the human tragedy is likely to be unmatched by anything in recent human history. We are not going to solve the problem on any macro scale but we are making an effort to do what we can for at least a few.
We have asked vendors attending VSAC to donate a piece of equipment or gear for sale at the show. The proceeds of all sales of this equipment will go towards the charity. All charity equipment will be in the room of the sponsor so if you are going to VSAC please watch for a sign or ask the vendor if they are participating. Vendor's participating in the event will have a sign in their room indicating which items they are sponsoring for the charity. Items not sold in their respective rooms will be available at the swap meet Sunday. We will have a special table set-up for the charity drive.
I just ask that as visitors to the show that you consider supporting our charity by the purchase of these items.

A very good article about the AIDS pandemic in Africa & Adoption Advocates in Ethiopia. Adoption Advocates runs the orphanage that will be the recipient of the charity drive. Layla House is the name of the orphanage.
