Is there any company that currently modifies the 8400?  Does anyone have any experience with this piece before and after modification, was it worth it?  I really like the player, but would like to take the next step, while having universal player capabilities.  If it isn't very advantageous to modify the marantz, what should I look into for about $1400?

Andy, there is a company that advertises on Audiogon which does mods to the 9500 and 9600, so I may think they'd support the 8400 as well.

The mods are expensive though. I have the 9500 and have been considering a similar thing, but I'm not sure if it's worth the expense.
