I saw this came up on the bay this week. I just thought it was interesting.

If I recall correctly, these are referenced in the back issues of Audio Basics...

Those are worth a read, by the way.  Good ideas about good design are timeless, regardless of technology.

I am still running the solid state version of the same CDP in my 2nd system.  Sheeeeesh.

The FV was probably the best one-box CDP in its day.  That may not be saying much.  Philips et al were making reliable (enough) transports and digital front ends, but there was a festival of bad ideas or bad executions in the DACs.  It is really good, however, that Frank went to a stand-alone DAC.

FYI Frank's current DACs are immensely better than the older one-box units.
