Question on BDA-1
« on: 10 Jan 2008, 05:51 pm »
I came across conflicting info on this DAC.
Does it actually upsample to 192KHz, or just does oversampling 128X, 64X or 32X, depending on input sample rate?
In other words, if 44.1 is brought in, will it be upsampled to 192KHz?
If yes, can upsampling be disabled?

Hi Sasha,

If I understand your question correctly the BDA-1 currently upsamples 4 times the input sample.

We are thinking about offering a feature in software that would allow you to disable the upsampling or even give you the option of 1 or 2 or 4 times upsample options.

Hi Sasha,

Correction:  only certain frequencies are 4 times upsampling.

The BDA-1 will:

Upsample 32-48-96-192k to 192K
Upsample 44-88-176K to 176K

We will offer a feature in software to Disable Upsampling if you wish

HI Alex,

We are going to build 20 units next month but all of them are presold.  I do not think Germany has any on order so it may be a while.

James, is this tentative build amount (20 in April) less than the total pre-sold units? As well, I guess we are looking at May before units ship, more or less, correct?

Hi Keith,

Yes it wll be May before we have production units ready to ship  We usually build 20 units in the first production run of any new product because it is a good sampling of how production will go.

As of yesterday I believe we have more than 20 on backorder. It appears the studios are liking this idea.
