You aren't likely to get more out of these drivers than Danny does, therefore my advice is to build the OB7 kit and use your subs as needed (which will be seldom).  When powered well, they play down pretty low in room.  I spent a couple of hours with them 10 days ago.  You aren't going to find better for the $.

Keep in mind that just because the sealed box M-130's start rolling off in the 90Hz range doesn't mean that output is gone by then. Don't forget average room gains. Here is what happened when the OB-7 was measured in a well treated room that was 23' by 17' with 9' ceilings.

And here it is with the M-130X woofers:

I mean, heck, my brother's little $159 6.5" 2-way kit bookshelf speakers from Parts Express will easily loaf around in the 30Hz range all day long.....

Hi Chops, I am sure you will be able to find many speakers, for much less money even, that will play lower but the difference here is the quality and level of information of these frequencies. Without sounding bias, I honestly do not think you will find another speaker in that price range that will offer you the same level of quality reproduction. In my opinion, the next best speaker I have heard is a stand mount but will set you back $2800 (I won't mention names). This is the reasoning for my statement below that I have mentioned elsewhere:

I am one that is willing to sacrifice a few Hz's for speed and articulation. I like my bass to be clean, fast and tight and I want to be able to feel the lower frequencies' impact in my chest while at the same time, hearing all the subtleties that any given recording has to offer. This is exactly what the OB-7's offer with it's 5.25" drivers in a sealed enclosure. No bloat, no bloom just a fast clean response. I don't think I have ever run across a subwoofer that would be able to keep up with the OB-7's 5.25" drivers (I will admit I have not heard a lot of subs) so I am not going to ruin what I am hearing just to get a few more octaves.

We all have different preferences and I am sure you will find what works for you. Just don't let the numbers scare you off. It's really too bad you cannot find someone locally who has a pair you can audition. There is always the option of going with one of Danny's subs down the road to fill in those lower registers and match the speed of the OB-7/OB-5.

Hi Chops:

I am running OB 5s, with a Sun Fire sub below 40hz, and I get all the bass one could ask for. If you have a DIY sub, then the OB 5 is a good choice for you. You can stuff the ports if you want as well, offering another sonic choice. Or just buy the x-static from AV 123. Same difference, both great choices.
