I was using the $11
Dayton unit in blissful ignorance. It stopped the hum and sounded OK, but I never really knew what my restored and upgraded Sansui was capable of with the Dayton filter in place. It started to hiss and lowered the signal strength. Tightening did not improve the connection, it was toast after 6 months. I replaced it with the new capacitive decoupling model from
Jensen. This is a new model from Jensen replacing their own transformer version a couple years ago.
It is vastly superior in audio quality to the Dayton transformer. It costs 4x more (best price $45 @ avcable.com). If you are using a humbuster on your FM tuner, you might wanna try this upgrade. Very nice!
