Benz MC3 technical specs
« on: 2 Mar 2008, 02:34 am »
Hi
I bought an old Benz MC3 which was retipped by van den Hull 8 years ago ($500) and hardly played since (i was told  25 LP sides). Seller is an honest man and I believe it is true.
I will use it on Rega P9/Rb1000, Hagerman Cornet II and Cinemag step-up. It took a little time to finally put together Cornet phono but finally it's done.
I can't find any info on MC3 besides it's 0.3v LOMC . What's recommended VTF, load , DCR of coils etc. TIA
Wojciech

A number of us here had the pleasure of this cartridge (MC3) on loan from woodsyi.  I also could not find any settings for it online but used what I had available.  I did run the VTF @ 1.8 grams and tried loadings on my Jolida JD-9 phono from 100 ohms to 300 to 1000 w/o any apparent change in the presentation.  I also used it with my Eastern Electric Minimax phono and using the MC inputs which access a SUT and found I preferred the 47 ohm input.
I found the MC-3 provided the sharpest image of music I had experiienced with analog playback to that time.  It was a rich and large presentation.
