the million dollar question!!!
« on: 14 Apr 2008, 11:11 am »
Hi everyone!

i have a 20" iMac Intel with 2GbRAM,Mac OSX 10.4.11, MOTU 828mk2 Firewire Audio interface and a cracked copy of Logic Express 7.2

and i'm thinking about buy Logic Studio 8 or Logic Studio Express 8,

the question is: it will really work on my Mac or Logic Studio was conceived for Mac OSX 10.5 Leopard?

Apple's web recommends a minimum of 2GbRAM (i have the minimum) and MAC OSX 10.4.9 (i have 10.4.11)

i don't want to spend my money and see a message like "you don't have enough RAM to process"

anybody knows??

Thanks!!!

Crimson

Hi,

I don't think you'll get any error messages, but you may experience some sluggishness during post-production processes. I'd say go for it! I use Garage Band quite extensively and have a very large loop and sample library running on a 20" iMac 2 GHz Core Duo with 2 GB of RAM and haven't run into any bottlenecks.

PS: I'd be more concerned about instrument latency issues, but if you're not experiencing them now there's no reason why the newer version would be any worse.
