Danny & Tyler Acoustics
« on: 30 Aug 2011, 06:45 pm »
A few minutes ago I left AudioCircle and was browsing at the Gearslutz forum. The second post in the first thread I read mentioned that the poster had Tyler Acoustics speakers in his studio. I remembered that Danny had done some crossover design for Ty and decided to check out the speakers. On Tyler Acoustics website was a link to Massive Acoustics and their review of the Decade Series D1 speakers. I checked back on Gearslutz and, sure enough, the post I had read was by Massive Master, evidently the owner of Massive Acoustics. Anyway, the review is interesting and I thought you might enjoy reading about some of Danny's other work:

Thanks for posting that. I was not aware of it.

Not a bad review.  :thumb:

Little does he know though, that I designed the drivers too.  :green:

I hope Ty can break into that area of the market with those. Ty is a great guy and deserves it. Plus those B&W's that some of those studios use can often be serious head ache givers.

No doubt about that.  I've never really understood them or Wilson's.   :dunno:

I first spoke with Ty last year when I called him and requested that he whip up a demo pair of Tyler Taylo Reference speakers for our Great Northwest GTG.  I found Ty to be a true gentleman of the hobby, and generous to a fault.  He worked overtime through his busy schedule to build, burn-in, and ship a wonderful pair of "GNW-GTG Special" Taylo speakers for us.  These monitors were superb performers, not to mention great lookers.   :D  (More can be read about the speakers and the event...here is the beginning of the audition review, starting with post #95.  http://forums.audioholics.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67150&highlight=gnw+gtg&page=10    The format is discussed on the previous page, but the entire thread is worth reviewing, IMO.)

During the many subsequent discussions I had with Ty, he paid much homage to Danny for his substantial contributions to Tyler speakers and frequently praised Danny's tremendous design skills.

I would really love to hear the D1's!

Those D-1's kicked some major you know what in my listening room with my big Blue tubes amps on them.
