Al,

Are you still producing the sub towers you had previously posted about ?  If so, could you re-post the specifics and cost, and link to photos ?

I'm planning to set up a double bass array and these may be a good match for my current sub towers, which I cannot duplicate.

Thanks

2-Cabinets made from 1.25" or 1" MDF 70" tall 4 seperate volumes 1 for each driver and PR equal volumes to GR spec of 2.4cft each Width,Depth depends on specs wanted.
-Veneered in Maple,Oak,Cherry,Walnut,Mahogany
-Driver's and PR's flush mounted on 1.25" walls only
-10g silver coated Teflon Wire installed in cabinets sealed for no air leaks. series parallel wiring of the 4 drivers.
-RAW ICE daming material and vibration pads installed
-Adire ADA 600 plate amps INCLUDED (stock pending from Adire) That is enought power ADA1200 will over power them
-Custom shaped bases.Veneered to match cabinets or black texture.
-All venner cabinets from RAW Acoustics come book matched veneer as close as possible.
-Satin laquer finish applied
-Exotic venners can be added as well email if you would like a different veneer cost.We have over 40 differrent veneers to pick from

$3200.00 USD plus shipping  Pair
$1800.00 USD plus shipping  Pair  MDF unfinished cabinets and bases ONLY

Prices above include cabinets packaged in custom wooden crates for shipping (crates and packing included) just shipping cost to be added.Excluding the drivers and PR's

Cabinet size using 1.25" MDF
70" tall
16" width
21" depth

Cabinet sizeusing 1" MDF
70" tall
16" width
19.75" depth

These cabinets are not small along with not easy to assemble and finish.Assembley of cabinets requires 2 people as well as moving them veneering as well.A lot of man hours with 2 people.
Each cabinet uses just over 4 sheets of veneer when we are veneering the bases as in the photo above. These are finished in Padauk double flex veneer we had made for us.
Veneer is a open ended topic as we finish all our cabinets we make in standard veneer options of Maple,Cherry,Oak the veneer options are endless and for those wanting something different we can get them something that fits the taste of finish .

We do not use this site specificly but they have a very good gallery of veneer photos. And yes some veneer sheets we have used cost up to $900.00 sheet.

Now those are some subwoofers   I would use some Crown K2's bridged and a parametric EQ.

I wouldn't bridge the Crowns, not that they couldn't handle it, but it halves the dampening factor when you do that.  Same with wiring for 2ohm versus 4ohm, etc. You may increase the power from your amp but at the penalty of lower dampening.  You get nothing for free!

If you are going to use 2 crowns, I'd rather use them as two channel amps running 2 woofers in parrallel each (4ohms) channel.

That they were
Little larger than these

These only used a single 18" NorthCreek driver that a customer has had for a few years.
The subs came as a after thought of what to do with a 8ft pile of MDF panels that were cut from line array pieces.
You can see the tweeter towers in the rear of the Black cabinet picture.

The line arrays went complete will have 9 G1 per side( tweeter boxs in photo of black cabinets) with 12 Accuton Mids standing beside the G1's open backed held up with aluminum plates.
These will be sitting on box that will be open backed 4 TC 12" drivers in a wave forum layout.

Then these large black cabinets are the low end subs.Tuning I believe was 14-15hz.

By far this is the largest custom 4 way system I have ever worked on.

Josh K I would agree with you -- I'd follow the paradigm of my current subs, with each of the four woofers wired in parallel (for 2 ohm nominal impedance, assuming drivers are 8 ohms each) with the subwoofer pair driven by a Crown K2 in stereo mode.  This gives 1250 watts per channel with damping factor of 750-1000 (3000-4000 @ 8 ohms), and the highest possibility sensitivity.

Bridging the K2 cuts the damping factor in half and limits the minimum impedance to four ohms.  The extra watts available won't add anything, 1250 per channel is plenty  :)

Sorry I was not thinking about the impedance of the drivers. I looked at the huge subwoofer arrays and had a knee jerk Holly (*U& reaction.

My bad. I promise never to mess up my impedance/ dampening factor calculation ever again

I think $3200 is for the pair!  And that includes the plate amps too, probably would be less for the passive version.

Correct
I up dated the post.
Priced per pair and yes passive will be cheaper.

Al, that is a great price on what should be an incredible pair of subs.   Having had typical "box" subs in the past and array towers currently, the latter load the room much more evenly and also give higher SPL with decreased distortion.

That custom four way system you are working on looks spectacular.  Please post more pics/details as it develops.

Yes the sub array will have a very large low end feel for sure with room extention these will hit clean and hard.
With out the drivers working at all close to the excursion.

For that sort of displacement, $3200 seems like a very reasonable price.  Way to go guys!

A few things have to change now for these to be built.
1-amplifier as the ADA from Adire is no longer availble. With a selection to be picked to match.
2-drivers we used were the GR SW12 and PR with no matchs available I would then pick another 12" driver.

Shipping well depends on location of were they are being shipped.
With in the US you can make your own arrangments if you would like for them to ship from Sumas Wash via your freight carrier.
We use one company and they charge $450.00 there abouts with INSURANCE!

A few options use
4 SD12 woofers perside with the OAudio plate amp with EQ the cabinet box size would be the same.
4 SDX10 woofers perside with the OAudio plate amp with EQ the cabinet box size would be the smaller.(these new woofers will be here in 3-4 weeks)
4 SDX15 perside with the OAudio plate amp with EQ the cabinet box size would be bigger.

Remove that plate amp and the options are endless for amplification DIY Cable has a few good options
