Saw this movie last night.  Interesting idea, pretty well executed (although I thought the main motivation for the lead character...saving his girlfriend...was not believeable).  However, this "Blair Witch Project"-styled film gave me motion sickness nausea in a big way.  I spent the last 30 minutes of the film just trying to focus on not vomitting in the theater....

My take= this was a glorified Godzilla movie... similar to how I Am Legend was a glorified zombie movie.

Both relatively entertaining.

So is there some type of big monster attacking New York?  (reminds me of Mothra or some Japanese plot)

That's exactly how I thought of this movie when I read what it was all about. Blair Witch meets Godzilla. Think I'll wait for it to hit HBO or Showtime.

I thought the plot and acting were not that great, but the execution was superb. Also, i enjoyed the concept; they didn't focus on the monster's history or appearance but let the movie pan out as though the city were really being attacked, and you are in the middle of the attack with no idea what's going on. The shaky cam didn't bother me and only bothered one of my friends a little during one of the more precarious scenes towards the end of the film.

I feel they nailed one important aspect of an attack by a giant monster. When do you suspect the only time you'd get a clear view of the monster? Right before you die, i'd say. Also, nearly everyone that partakes in the idiotic adventure to save someone trapped across the city dies, as they should.

I gotta say this one was irritating due to the stupidity of the cast and the fact that the creature seemed to find them most often out of the entire population of Manhattan.  Were they wearing radio beacons?

The CGI was great but the BWP qualities were just too much of a rip off.
