Hello folks.

This is my room with the dimensions of 13'x26'x7'high.  Recently found out that a room this size(double the width of 13') sucks and is something I should of tried to avoid.
Oh well.  Here is what I have done and what is planned.  Keep in mind that I am not a serious 2 channel listener and am just trying to incorporate ideas as I go along.

Room info:
-Ceiling has 2 layers of safe and sound insulation(6" deep) with air space above and below.  The drywall is also screwed onto the resilient channel which is available at diy centres.
-1/2"drywall all around. was going to go 5/8" but doing this all by myself has its limits.
-all drywall seams including corners in ceilings and walls have been sealed with acrlic caulking
-all duct work has been sealed around joints and openings into the ceilings and walls and wrapped with safe and sound
-all new wood stud framing on all walls which was sealed with spray foam on all joints and connections
-total of 26 cans of spray foam used and 32 bags of safe and sound insulation
-any and every hole leading out of the room has been sealed with spray foam and s&s.
-listening position will be 13' from speakers with surrounds on adjustable brackets on each side wall 60" from the floor.

As for traps.
-All 4 corners will have triangular diy bass traps built in(24-36" out from each corner)
-there will be a laminate floor that will be covered predominatley with carpet.

I guess what I am asking is what should I be expecting with having a room with these dimensions.  I understand asking this is like asking a mechanic to diagnose your car over the phone. But........................

Equipment is as follows
-2 diy Dayton 3-way towers.  52" high(will be spaced 10-11' apart, 3' from back wall, 2'from side walls, 20' infront of 60"tv, 1' from the sides of the tv.)
-2 18" diy mach5 ixl-18 subwoofers(don't know about placement yet. 99%sure they will have to be up front somewhere)
-2 polk audio rti-a3 surrounds(60" from floor and 13 feet back from the front speakers)
-2 dedicated 20 amp outlets on their own circuit and leg
-all electrical wiring painstakingly kept at least 16" from any speaker and audio cables in ceiling and walls.

Pictures:
front where tv and speakers will be

Back of room with built in media shelves

back of room with drywall up

front of room with drywall

front speakers

subs

An early drawing of the room with ideas incorporated.room is actually 26"long so there is 3 more feet behind couch where computer desk will be.

Nice to see another Canuck around here, and one from GTA also!

I think the first thing you will have is stupendous bass - those 18's from Mark in Winnipeg will do extraordinarily well in that room!  I use a pair of his 12's in an unfinished basement of roughly 2x the size of the room you are describing.

Could you let us know the rough cost so far?  That is a LOT of S&S insulation!

Thanks.  The subs are both tuned to 13hz and I am a little of a bass head.
As for costs.
Speakers roughly $2500
Subs $600

Insulation $1000
spray foam $120
Drywall $600
Resilient channel $120
Pink Styrofoam on the exterior walls $700
Wood $250
Shelves birch veneer $150
3 rolls 14/2 $200
100 feet 12/3 for 20 amp independant grounds $$150
12mm laminate maple floor $600
18 potlights $400
hdmi/speaker/component/optical/ cables $500
++++++++++++++++++++$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

lots and lots
still haven't bought trim for the doors and baseboard
have to make doors for the media shelves
and still need insulation for the bass traps

A 2-to-1 ratio is not the end of the world, and with a proper amount of bass trapping you can get excellent results. But you should plan to treat more than just the four wall-wall corners. Wall-ceiling corners are equally useful - you can build a false soffit with a wood frame, filled with insulation and covered with fabric. Even wall-floor corners are valid, for example at the bottom of the front wall.

You also need to deal with side wall reflections and potentially nulls off the rear wall.  If you're going to do a lot of 2 channel listening in there, you might want to face the rear absorbers with FSK or something similar so it's not too dead.
