Student project update

Well, next week the groups assemble their first attempt at a speaker design.  It consists of a line array of 8 Pioneer 4" full ranges with a donated tweeter of unknown origin (but high efficiency).  Several mock ups were made with cardboard boxes by different students listening to the effects of baffle width, box size, ports, etc.  We should have something to listen to by Christmas.  Next semester, they each design their own speaker for competition.

How cool is that!   :thumb: If they'd had something like that offered when I was younger, I'd have been all over it.

The CLIO HR2000 system and ISA Bus IBM PC are on the way to Scott.  Hope FedEx treats them well.  Supposed to be there 4 January.

Happy New Year!

SANTA!!!!!! You got me just what I wanted for Christmas!!!

This will be the donation that really makes this project take off.  Thanks to everyone that has helped out.  We should have dozens of students building speakers this spring- all due to the generousity of this community.
I'll post pictures of our first measurements when school starts back up.

Looking forward to the speaker pictures and CLIO measurements.   :D

A virus has sidelined me for a week, but we actually got the unit sort of working tonight.  We took some TS parameters on 3 woofers before running into problems and out of time.  Hopefully next Mon. we will get set up for FR measurements on the line array that the kids finished a couple of weeks ago.

We are still early in the learning curve, but making progress.
