PMC speakers

Has anybody read anything about these speakers getting changed? Something about an i series? It's not on their website yet but I've heard they are raising their prices too. Thanks

If I remember correctly from what i read on a hi-fi shop website, the tweeter's being changed, and there are some cosmetic changes to the cabinets and bases. That's for the domestic speakers, not sure about the pro range.

Hope they're not raising prices again, the domestic models are already way over-priced for what they are.

Hi,

Yes there is a new 'I' Series and I believe they are keeping the current (+) Series because the 'I' Series will be higher priced.

James, do you happen to know if the change also apply to the pro range?

Thanks for all the replies and has anybody had a chance to audition the new models, specifically the OB1+ i ? I absolutely love the sound of the TB2's and am thinking about moving up the line.

Looks nice... they need to do a spelling and grammar check on the webpage though.

I wonder whether existing owners can upgrade to the i series. Also I would be grateful if any one has heard the revised Ob1 is to let me know if there is a marked improvement in the overall presentation of the Bryston / Pmc combination.

I would be terribly disappointed if the quality is vastly improved on my current Ob1's and that you would have to trade them in in order to get the benefits.

You cannot upgrade because the change is too big, the cost of the new drivers and crossovers.
I would expect a substantial upgrade from this, but I bought a demo DB1+ on Dec 28 for $699. The DB1i is $1699.

I'm still wondering whether the i version is worth the extra money since there is still the old version floating around. Just my opinion but I think a lot of foreign manufacturers will be raising their prices due to the falling dollar.

In my opinion the web page seems to promote the cosmetic upgrades, then mentions the driver upgrades as somewhat of an afterthought.  Certainly the cosmetic upgrades listed would drive the cost up significantly.

That said, I can attest from personal experience that changing the cabinet foam, tweeter and crossover in my FB1's to FB1+ spec made a vast improvement in bass presence, vocals clarity, imaging and high frequency smoothness.

So I guess we need to wait for some reviews.  If nothing else I hope the i series introduction floods the used market with OB1's, IB1's and IB2's so I can upgrade.

I'm afraid to say the improvements are pretty dramatic. I recently upgraded from the OB1 to the OB1i and was astounded at how much of an improvement there was.
