Sorry to bring back this thread, but I have started experiencing a very similar issue with my recently upgraded SP2. My original unit was an SP1.7. When fed a Dolby Digital signal from my Scientific Atlanta 8300HD cable box, the SP2 will have a tough time locking onto the audio signal when the cable box signal breaks up for a few seconds. This happens a fair bit on HD channels. Recently, I have experienced losing audio completely along with all remote control functionality. The only thing that seems to fix the problem is a reboot of the SP2, but this is only a temporary fix. The problem will reoccur...interestingly there is no issue when the SP2 is fed an analog signal from the cable box. I never experienced such an issue prior to the upgrade. The unit was upgraded 10/07 and the serial number is SP2-X000467. I am running firmware version 1.6 4/07 according to my boot screen. James...I need some help should I contact Mike directly?
