Good place to get tubes?
« on: 18 Dec 2007, 12:40 am »
Has anyone gotten any tubes here?
www.vacuumtubes.net

I want get some NOS (New old stock) and need some good advice on where to get them. Mostly, I'd like to hear your experience (good?) about place/source where you got your tubes (vacuum tubes).

Thanks

Nope, too many other good places to purchase listed by "brand" or manufacturer.
That's what counts to me anyway.

There are lots of dependable places listed above.

I don't think you can do better than Andy at Vintage Tube Services. His attention to detail when choosing tubes is unmatched IMO. He's not always fast to fill your order, but when you get the tubes, they are going to be impeccably matched and microphony/noise will be screened so the tubes are appropriate for their intended application. Unfortunately, he's soon to be done with the tube business and will be moving onto new ventures. Brent Jesse Recording also enjoys a good reputation, as does Upscale Audio. If you want  new production Russian stuff, RAM Labs sells very carefully chosen and matched tubes. There are a lot of people who make claims that aren't true with regard to being NOS, matched, etc. Buyer beware of many sellers.

Try here.   http://www.audiotubes.com/

Brent is agood guy, and will answer your questions for you. I've purchased from him on three seperate occasions, and have been very satisfied every time. Last time I was looking for a specific NOS tube, and he recommended a differnet brand, still NOS, that he felt would sound as good if not better, and it was half the money. Pretty good testimony if ya ask me.

Good Luck,
