So are saying that we can have 80 watts/channel Class A and balanced inputs (since you are selling monoblocks) for $900 a pair?

Wow!  :thumb:

The $900/pr is correct. These are stereo amps rated at 25w/ch into 8 ohms and 40 w/ch into four, which isn't quite enough for most speakers. The nice people at Monarchy recognized this, so they provided a bridge switch on the back which converts each to a balanced monaural amp rated at 80w/ch into 8 ohms and about 140 into 4 ohms. When using them as monoblocks you can choose between the RCA and balanced inputs, so you're covered whether you have a balanced pre or not. These are very good sounding class A zero feedback amps.  :thumb:

Is this the old or new generation SM 70 Pro?

I'm not familiar with the old versus new generation other than the change from the SM-70 to the SM-70 Pro in 1999. The was a major upgrade with much larger heat sinks and four output devices per side instead of two. The heat sink upgrade was especially needed on an amp that runs in class A. The old SM-7 became very hot to the touch. The SM-70 Pro becomes very warm but not hot.

The amp that's for sale is an SM-70 Pro I bought new from Monarchy in July of last year.

The new generation has the following changes:
The new generation just introduced features higher power:

180 Watt on 4 Ohms above 10KHz in mono mode.
140 Watt on 4 Ohms below 10KHz in mono mode.
40 Watts x 2 on 4 Ohms in stereo mode

much lower noise (by the use of an epoxy-filled toroidal transformer)

and enhanced performance (circuit revision).

I have an old generation purchased in 2002 and would like to find anther to match so as to run two mono amps.
