stratos warm up time
« on: 17 Dec 2007, 01:15 pm »
Hi guys,
I know that the stratos takes a while to break in. After the amp is fully broken in, if the amp is powered off and turned on again, how much time does it take for the amp to warm up and sound normal again ? Will an hour of operation do ? I am talking about the Stratos plus stereo.
Most other SS amps I have heard takes about 45 to 60 minutes of operation to sound open and clean.

Hertz

I have read everything from 12,24 to 48hrs to get back to sounding "sweet/normal"  again. If you do a search you will find many variations and opinions on this. Personally I never turn mine off unless absolutely necessary.

I just did this (turn mine off) after leaving them on for several months, and it was at least 24 hours before all was well again.  During that time the sound seemed a little closed in, rough around the edges, but still very good.  It's really nothing to stress about.

Lots of threads about it already on this circle.  Many different opinions too, but you won't get a definitive answer.  I just followed Klaus's advice and it seems to work for me.

Thanks guys for the responses.
Most Solid state amps sound good if they are left “on” all the time. Even some of the amps I am used to sound better after they are “on” for half a day or so. The difference is “more airy” , “more inner details” and “more natural sounds”. But they are all listenable after an hour of operation. After this one hour, the difference is not night and day. It is quite small. How is it with the Stratos ?

Try using the IsoTek System Enhancer CD to reduce those warm-up & burn-in times. Disc works wonders with my gear.
