I just had my cd transport modded, including getting the BNC output terminated to exactly 75ohms. Will your inline filter change the 75ohm impedance across my digital cable to the DAC?

Thanks,

John

The Bybee purifier DOES NOT change the impedance.

I build the BNC adaptor using Canare true 75 ohm BNC connectors.

Thanks, Wayne. I know that opinions differ on the audible benefit of maintaining a true 75ohm connection from transport to DAC, but since I have it, I don't want to negate the benefit in the course of implementing another possible improvement.

Do you have an opinion on which Bybee filter location gives a more audible improvement?:

1.) inline between cd transport and DAC (as per our discussion)

OR

2.) inline at speaker terminals

Thanks again,

John

John,

In my system and most of the systems I have listened to here in Colorado, I found the best bang for the buck to be with the digital inline purifier.

Now, most of these system were using the ART DI/O modified to MENSA level, as the DAC of choice. You may have a different opinion with a different DAC. I have also found the purifier to make a big improvement on the digital audio signal of my DVD player into the digital input on my Lexicon Pre/pro.

The next biggest bang comes form using the Bybees in your AC line.

The Bybee Power Bar or inline AC purifiers reduce the whole system's noise level.

Once those two are done, then adding them to the speakers make a big difference.

I have also found adding Bybees to the input of a phono stage to make as big a difference as the digital line.

Please realize that each system is different and each person's idea of a big improvement is different as well.

If you look at the posts on the Bybee inline purifier thread on the BOLDER Cable circle, you will find overwhelming amounts of positive comments about these devices.

Living in the neighboring state of Utah, I'd bet any regional effect would be audible here as well(bad joke, I know). I vertically biamp and inline speaker filters would cost a bundle, so your prioritization order is obviously to my liking - with one caveat:

I run all my components off a BPT 2.5 balanced line conditioner. Would there likely be ANY benefit putting an inline Bybee between my Wattgate wall jack and the BPT power cord?

To put individual Bybees between the BPT and every component would be cost-prohibitive for me.

Again, thanks for the opportunity to tap your experience. I'm really at the end of the line in system building and will wring that last bit of improvement from my rig as long as it's not at "component-level" cost.

John,

There are a few folks who have used the Bybees "in front" of their balanced power transformers with very good results.

Jay S has a power cable with a couple of Bybees in it that he seems to like :)

Robin has Bybees in front and inside of HIS BPT.

witchdoctor is using an inline AC Bybee on his Monster conditioner.

The Bybees will drop the noise floor even more than you are currently used to.

Thanks again, Wayne. I'm going to give this Bybee thing some serious thought.

JB,
My Monster HTPS 7000 supplies balanced and filtered power to my digital and analog front end. The amps are supplied filtered power from the same unit.
Yes, it really improved the sound in my system. Music and movies become much more lifelike. That is the best way I can describe what a bybee does. If you treat the PLC upstream, all the components downstream benefit. Remember, you can always return it!
Power is the blood of your system. Give it a TRANSFUSION!

John,

I have a Nitro power cable with 2 large bybees built in, one each on the Live and Neutral wires.  I am using this on my Blue Circle balanced power supply, the idea being that every component in my system will get bybee-purified balanced power.
