I am selling my Theta Basic II Universal Transport. It is based on a laser disc machine so it is massively overbuilt for playing CDs. It is a wonderful unit that has served me well for many years. The Transport drawer, however, has begun to malfunction. When the open button is pushed it opens, stops and then goes back in. The solution is to hit open button again as soon as the drawer begins to close so that it continues to open fully. I have been told that likely the track or gears simply need lubrication since the lubrication can dry up over the years and the added friction can cause the unit to think that the door cannot open, which causes the drawer to close. There is also the very occasional CD that the transport has trouble reading on the first shot. Once the CD is in the transport, it plays well.
If you can live with these shortcomings or have the technical skill to troubleshoot these issues, this transport is a steal.
