well I did it!
« on: 7 Nov 2007, 07:40 pm »
Had coffee with Klaus yesterday afternoon after voting bthe rest of the daylight savings time idiots out of office. Wrote him a check for my new speakers (bullet hole and all), so bet you can't guess what I'm getting for Christmass. My checking account may never recover from this year (tone arm, turntable, phonostage, and of course a new pair of speakers). Damn! I hate to have to back to work again.

I bought the Lorelei II's with a special piece of wood in a dark satin finished walnut color. So it looks like the good old Meadowlark hotrods are finally going up for sale. I'll miss them, but think I'll get over it.

I only knew of 1 Lorelei but I haven't stayed current, I've got 2 pairs of Lorelei's, why should I? I was thinking maybe you were talking about Klaus's new loudspeaker. You think maybe you're calling it Lorelei II because the cabinets are USA made?  :dunno: Regardless, it's still containing Germain made crossovers and Scan-Speak drivers and you are gonna love them!  :thumb:

You still gonna owe us pictures,,,,, pleeeease?  aa

Cheers,
Robin

ps, i PM'd ya.

First of I don't have them in house yet, but the cabnets are done. All the rest of the parts came in last week from what I've been told. So, so far all I've seen is the check and a Starbucks coffee (plain jane black). I told Klaus that I really wasn't in a super hurry, and told him to just hang onto them till I get the new wood floors done in my living room.
It's been a trying six or eight months this year with my analog system giving me more fits than any of my ex wives. But I now have completely divorced myself from Roy Hall and the junk he sells. Have a new Consance LP 2.0 table with an SME IV arm and a
vandenhull recable job. I still like my Final Tool better, but it wont take the SME arm. And nobody seems to be able to get the mounting plate. Once again analog is enjoyable to listen to.
To end all this rambeling and get on with it, I see that I'll probably want to get another pair of speaker cables made sometime in the near future (Klaus has a direct link to my checking account anymore) unless I choose to use a pair of Kimbers that I've loved so dearly over the last three or four years. And either steal a tombstone or just buy one for my turntable.

I have a pair of Kestrel hotrods that are in the optional lace wood cabnets. Bought them for unmiced acoustic jazz, and they are every bit as good as people say they are.
Might add here that a year ago I was on the deep hunt for a pair of Meadowlark Herons, and had two pairs located, but sellers wouldn't ship them. I really think that I'll find the new speakers tobe somewhere between the Shearwater hotrods and the Blue Herons, and if that's true I'll be one happy camper. Still If I had of had the room I'd be using 3.6 Maggies, as the Mono SE's are the perfect amp for them.
So in closing I can already hear Red Garlands fingers graceing the ivories comming thru the new speakers. I will keep all of you infprmed as to how their evolution takes place.
