back in the days of records live music in the studio was recorded by reel to reel tape decks and transfered
into a record. being technology challenged, how is music recorded today? also, what happened to the
DAT decks?
Great question XSB. Some people still use the old analog reel-to-reel gear, but many now use computers and work in the digital domain.
The analog signals from the mics are fed into an A/D converter, and your computer stores/manipulates that data. It's fed back to your 'interface' (or sound card) and that digital data is converted back to analog and out to your monitors
