I think I play about 50% LP's and 50% CD's.  

What happens though is if I start off playing an LP, I'll play only LP's that night, and if I start off playing CD's, that's what I listen to that night.

For those that have both CD players and a TT, is this how you guys do it, or is this abnormal?

It doesn't seem to be a consious thing, and of course there are exceptions, but that's what happens most nights.

Nope,

Just can't get away from them big ones,  uhum,  records that is.
It's not just the naturalness of LP's,  but personally,  I love the ritual of cleaning and lowering the tonearm.  Biggest point::::  having big covers.

Yup, I really like flipping through LP's and don't much like looking through CD's.

I also noticed that I listen to Classic rock on LP's, and Jazz and Blues on CD's for the most part.

I don't like classical at home, but I like it for backround music at the office.

Submitted for your approval--wonder if the following is why "Record Night at the Beat Farm"  is always special.  Besides the sonics, there's something potentially more intense about playing LP's since you have to get up and change records, think about what's next, fondle the vinyl etc.
Sometimes, if you're playing an 80 min CD, you can get distracted by other things or, if you're already distracted, you put in a CD so you don't have to change LP's.  For instance, I have Jeff Buckley's "Grace" on vinyl and CD; there are times when I play the CD just 'cause I know I can't devote my full attention to the music and don't want to risk damaging the grooves if I can't reap their full potential.

A typical listening session here isn't limited to a particular format.

Over the course of a few hours I might go from listening to vinyl to CD to FM , even cassette !

Music is the driving force here rather than format.

Well,  agreed Michael.   Especially since I have some great, old,  very old tape recordings from the 70's as well.  (several kick ass pirate recordings and such,  just bad sounding,  but really good music)   However,  if I have the choice of a medium,  then it would be analog.    Don't you love to look at the artists and the album art ???

I'll even throw MP3 into the mix, so long as they're hi bit rate VBR and sound tolerable.  I've got an MP3 disc with my favorite 92 songs by the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem- it's the perfect disc to kick back and have a few brews with.

My last LP listening nite was about 1985!

Seriously, I was listening to Tim Buckley's "Morning Glory" (the 2CD retrospective) just this past week; then I listened to Chrissie Hynde singing "Morning Glory" on "Bleecker Street: Songs of Greenwich Village"
