Cornet 2 Enclosure
« on: 9 Aug 2007, 04:05 am »

Has anyone used the 2" D. Hammond enclosure upside down? With the top plate down and the holes
for tubes drilled in the stationary side? Do you think it would work? Thanks to all that reply....DK

This is how i plan to build mine but with the 3" enclosure. I don't forsee any problem besides what already has to be dealt with using the tight hammond chassis, others may be able to comment on this. I also plan to use a perforated material for the cover on the bottom to help with ventilation. I know heat rises but still think this will be better than having the chassis sealed. I have the material already so a few bucks will be saved too.

That is how I built one. The flat chassis panel used as the bottom.

It was harder to work with than just drilling the flat panel but the results were good.

I am also thinking of incorporating SUT's. Because of hum I was going to add on a separate chassis to the back to keep to have walls between them. Do you think this will be enough to keep them from humming?.......thanks.........DK

Do you have any pics? Just curious to see what it looks like.

A caution about drilling Hammond boxes with a step drill bit. I tossed my first box in the dumpster when i realised how badly the step drill deformed the box from the pressure in my drill press. Second attempt I placed a wood block inside to keep the top flat.
