Morrow Audio, The Reference 1 speaker has dual drivers operating full range. Maple finish. There is no crossover. The first driver is mounted on the front of the cabinet. The second driver is top mounted. Although the top mounted driver operates full range, the midrange and upper frequencies produced from it are mostly eliminated through diffraction and absorption from the ceiling and surrounding objects in the room, with only the bass frequencies reaching the listener. The bass from both drivers acoustically combine. The resulting bass response is like having a single 12" driver, moving a lot of air, but having the speed and accuracy of an 8" driver. It makes a very open and airy top-end but still has a solid center-fill with a rich midrange sound. Excellent value speaker. Comes with removable gold colored floor spikes.

These speakers sell direct for $1,500. Mine were damaged in shipping - the back right corners were pushed in on both speakers. I have "repaired" the corners by using wood putty to shape/make new corners. The corners need to be sanded and painted/veneered. I am selling these for $400 but you MUST PICK THEM UP IN CHARLOTTE, NC! The boxes are obviously not sufficient for shipping since they were damaged once and I don't want to take the chance again. I also have for sale a very nice KT-88 based Sound Concepts integrated amp that puts out 10 watts in triode mode that goes very well with these speakers. Finally, if you want to complete the system I have a MHZS CD66 upsampling, top-loading and tube output CD player to go with the speakers and amp. I will sell the speakers, amp and CD player for $1,000 cash, picked-up at my home. That is one H*** of a deal! Thanks, Scott
