That's a stunningly great price. I can't believe it wasn't sold the first day.

Wrong marketplace for this item. List it on Audiogon for $3800 and it'll be sold within a few days, if not hours.

Must fight the temptation...

If I wasn't firmly back in tube land, I would buy this in a heartbeat.

That's a lot of amp for a very reasonable price.

Have AC'ers heard this amp, and if so in what situation?

I find myself drawn to it but don't really know why, which is a scary feeling in this hobby.

While I've been enjoying my first taste of a tube amp lately, I have been missing having an amp that will pick a pr of speakers up by their 'nads and toss 'em around the room when asked.

Good luck on the sale, but TVAD4 is right as usual - probably a real small market here on AC.

The MC402 can make speakers beg for mercy.  It has control, in spades.  I've heard one in a retail store situation, and have a friend that had one for a while.

I've owned McIntosh in the past and if I were going to buy SS again, it would probably be a Mac. The MC-402 is a sweet amp.

Sale pending on the MC402.

It is a very nice amp, but the sweet glow of tubes called me back once again  :duh:

And I just heard yesterday that my new tube amp will be here Friday and I'll be back to tube power amplification for the first time in nearly 18 months.  There's an awful lot to like about the amps I've had in that time, but as Mike says, the tubes just keep calling me back.

A Cayin A-70T.  Given my budget constraints it looks to be a nicely designed and built KT-88 PP integrated which should do a respectable job driving the Adagios.  The whole system is getting revamped -- new location, new rack, new CD player, Ultimate PS for the SB, and I'll hopefully have the vinyl online before the end of the summer (just takes $$$ you know? :D ).

Guys, let's move the discussion of other amps to a different thread.

Please remember that this is MCA's thread in which he is trying to sell his MC 402 amp.
