Hey Moscode 401HR Owners
« on: 17 Jul 2007, 11:27 pm »
Hi,

I am the guy who bought Grant's (TVAD4) Moscode 401HR.  Really love the amp.  I just rolled in some Mullard Balckburn 12AU7s in the outside positions (per recommendations by owners on this site) and they sound really nice.  The stock Sovtek 6H30 tubes were very dynamic but a little edgy on some material.

I was wondering if anyone has tried the NOS 6H30p-DH tubes?  I have heard they sound quite a bit better than the Sovteks.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

Tom

The year to go for is 1992. Tube is called 6H30-DR.
To get hold of a pair of REAL 1992 6H30-DR is not easy at all!
A tubestore in Norway does have these tubes as far as I know. I'm sure others also do, check for authenticity as there are some fakes floating out there in the vacuum of interspace...

Tom,

Try JJecc99 on the outer position, with the mullards on the inside, SMILIN :thumb:

I actually prefer the Amperex PQ white label, gold pin over the Mullard.  However, I did score on Ebay the other day a pair of Siemens CCa grayplates.  So we will see if they are gonna do it for me.

This is very nice as a combo.  I took it one level different and used Amperex PQ white label gold pins instead of the Mullards on the inside and it is fantastic.  You could get these 4 tubes for under $150.

The grayplates did not light my fire.

Pete,

Sorry to hear that you didn't like the CCA's - what didn't you like?

I assume you tried them in the outer sockets?
