IMO, if you do nothing else to the jd-100, change the coupling caps. Get the polyesters out and some decent polypropylene's in. Really brought the player to life for me.

What do you recommend?

I used Sonicap Gen 1 caps. I've done quite a few more mods, but the caps produced the greatest benefit for me. Tubes would be next.
