Unfrosted Blueberry Pop Tarts
« on: 21 Feb 2008, 12:56 am »
Is it just St Louis or have these tasty little breakfast treats all but disappeared? I’ve been looking for these in our local grocery stores literally for years. See, I can’t stand the sickeningly sweet, frosted ones marketed to today’s kids. I guess I’m just a Pop Tart purist. Give me a good, old fashion blueberry hot out of the toaster, drench it in real butter and I’m in (or maybe on my way to) hog heaven. Sure, I know these things are about as healthy as eating a box full of Twinkies but I don’t care. I just want an Unfrosted Blueberry Pop Tart on occasion.

So in desperation I did a Google search. As luck would have it, Amazon carries them. Trouble is, I have to buy 12 boxes of them at a time. As if that choice wasn’t good enough, I can subscribe to have them delivered by the case on a monthly basis. I guess that option is for the true Pop Tart junkies out there.

My problem is, I don’t want twelve boxes of Unfrosted Blueberry Pop Tarts. I just want one or two boxes. I know these things have a half-life of about 50 years but it would probably be 2015 by the time I finished off that case.

So, I decided to follow another Pop Tart Google link to eBay where they sell them one box at a time. Now if buying food from Amazon wasn’t scary enough, food from eBay should absolutely make your Top 10 "I can’t believe I’m considering this...." list.

….what to do…….what to do…..

as long as it doesn't contain wheat gluten you should be just fine.  :duh:

Ah, what the hell right- Spam hasn't hurt us yet.
I drink the milk, seek out the beautiful genetically modified veggies and eat vitamin & steroid enhanced meat all the time.

Buy the case on Amazon and sell the spares on eBay.  You may want that subscription after all.
Or, you could probably ask the local grocery store manager to get some.

Same story in this nick of the woods Scott ole buddy. They do carry strawberry unfrosted ones, they aren't bad but just aren't the same as blueberry.

"Pop tart purist". Something about that doesn't sound right.

I remember that one  Sorta scary when you think about it though.

drphoto, the strudels are OK but there is something about the taste of the actual blueberry pop tart. I dunno, I guess its comfort food or something. I can remember eating these things all the way back into the late 60's (I think). Sorta like White Castle hamburgers, when you have that craving, nothing else will do (thankfully that craving only comes once every couple of years).
