Cornet2 w/ variable EQ
« on: 9 Jul 2007, 03:49 am »
Hello everyone,

I was digging through some old threads and came across a few where some adventurous tweakers were asking Jim about constructing a Cornet2 with variable Cut and Turnover knobs. I guess it would be like a tubed Bugle Pro or a stereo Monogram (Stereogram?) without the adjustable gain.
Anyhow, I am curious if anyone had used Jim's web calculators to calculate the R and C values required to do this with a 12AX7-based pre-amp.
I would really like to construct one myself, possibly with a Ripper USB in the back-end (as was brought up recently), and would really like to hear how far anyone's progressed with this particular scheme.

Best,
Benjamin

Jim, did you redesign the Monogram around 12AX7s or was it always that way? I realize that the scheme on the monogram.pdf you linked to utilizes 12AX7s, but reading your reply in an older thread on a topic similar to this one gave me the impression the monogram used 12AT7s, and thusly required re-computed R and C values. Specifically, this thread here: http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=38774.0

Either way, progress is progress!

Best,

It uses one X7, a T7, and a U7.  I think.  It's been awhile since I've looked at it.
