I am new to AudioCircle, I have a little time in Audiogon. I have a 100% rating on Ebay under michaeljboatright2mus. From what I hear there is a huge following for Odyssey here on AudioCircle. I recently purchased about 4-6 weeks ago, an Odyssey Stratos Extreme Stereo version from the 3rd owner. This amp is awesome! I hate to sell this but due to financial needs, it has to go  .  I would definitely buy one of these again. The amp is a 10 of 10 on performance, it has the 180,000 microfarad cap upgrade being the Extreme version. But if you are reading this you probably already know this amp. It has tons of clean power to spare at 150x2. On the cosmetic side of things it has a 1/8-1/4 of an inch scratch on the front lower left corner of the face from the previous owner, barely noticeable sitting about 8-10ft away, so I would rate it a 9 of 10. The inside is just as pretty as the outside. I brought the amp home immediately put it in the ET center and has been sitting there since. In a non-child, non-smoking home. I still have the pics from the guy I purchased from on Audiogon. I have contacted Klaus at Odyssey and he is sending me new shipping boxes should have them Monday or Tuesday of this week. I am asking $1100 + shipping and handling O.B.O. I am out of Fort Wayne, IN (46802) the amp weighs 54 lbs. Please feel free to ask questions. Please send any inquiries to michaeljboatright@hotmail.com. Thanks for looking! If you want to see the pics let me know.

what would make this any better than the normal Stratos amps w/cap upgrades that fetch around 7 bills typically?
just curious.  i'm hunting for a stratos myself, but you're out of my range.

It has two 400 va Plitron toroidal transformers stacked on top of each other and much more capacitance than the std Strato's and i believe the wpc is higher than the 150 per channel that the seller has stated. in my opinion the asking price is a fair one.thanks....WCW III

I read that it is 150x2, I believe that is what was listed on a page that had Odyssey Amps for sale. Check out the link: http://www.odysseyaudiosg.com/Stratos.htm

Thanks,

If you look carefully it lists the Stratos stereo extreme version @2 x 180 Wpc. check it out! Odyssey Mexico lists the Stereo extreme at 165 Wpc ? i would ask Klaus just to be sure....WCW III

The stratos with the cap upgrades (known as a Stratos Plus) is a single transformer toroid type with 120,000 mfd. of total capacitance.  The extreme has double the transformers for a dual mono setup and 180,000 mfd. of total capacitance with additional bypass capacitors  (high grade) on each cap.  The wiring (I believe) in the extreme is upgraded to Groneberg as well.  The output capability is a little higher for the Extreme version (limited by the quantity and capacity of output transistors) as well as the amount of amps sourced from the power supply.  In effect, it is almost as if you purchased two stratos amps running in mono, one for each channel.  The only difference being the quantity of output transistors per channel, hence a lower output rating.

The overall improvement is really in the power supply.  Cleaner and stiffer.  (the toroids on the extreme are Plitron transformers higher rated....425 or 450va, at least as far as I remember)

The amp weighs approximately 74lbs. shipped in the extreme version vs. low-mid 60s for the plus.

Ok here it is... I know that 1100 is a lot of money, so here is what I will do for starters. I am reducing the price to 1000, and offering FREE shipping up to $50.00 anything over that the buyer is responsible for. The buyer is also reponsible for Paypal fees. Just to make this perfectly clear, I will also be putting up this amp for the same deal on Audiogon. Whichever sells first I reserve the right to sell to that person who gets to me first. This amp needs a good home... :) Please feel free to make an offer at michaeljboatright@hotmail.com. Thanks (There is nothing wrong with the amp, I need the cash to live, That is why I am selling the amp).
