Colorado Audio Society get together
« on: 5 Jul 2007, 06:41 pm »
On July 13th, (yes, Friday the 13th), I will be hosting a CAS get together at my place in Lafayette. I would love to see some, if not all, of the local AC members come on by for some good food, a couple of adult beverages, and of course, music. I know that Mike, (cryotweeks), is having a get together at his place that same weekend, and I do not want to horn in on his attendance. I just wanted to extend an invitation to any who may be interested. PM me for directions.

Thanks,
JCarney

I have a few days off that weekend so hopefully I can make both get together and learn how to hit a golf ball.

Lafayette? - That's right around the corner from me (Louisville), so I might be able to make it.  If I can, I'd be happy to bring whatever I have of interest.

I'd love to but it's not very likely. I actually joined the CAS this morning when I registered for RMAF. I'll be going over to Mike's this weekend and I live out by Elizabeth, so Lafayette is a pretty fair hike considering I'm headed that way on Sunday. Appreciate the invite tho.

Twice in one weekend is a pretty good hike indeed. Have you been to Colorado Audiophile Sound and Design, Randall's place yet? He's in Elizabeth.

Not yet, I've been meaning to contact him but somehow haven't gotten around to it.  We moved here from the DTC area at the end of last August and it seems like I've got a never ending list of home improvement (not to mention audio) projects.

Duhhhhhh...that might be helpful huh?
We usually start around 6:30pm. But if anyone wants to show up early for some listening, getting acquainted, they can. I'll be there.

Wow, thanks for updating the thread, JCarney - I had missed it before.

I always appreciate it when others are willing to open their homes to fellow audiophiles, and would love to attend your get-together, but am unsure of my Friday schedule just yet.  If I can make it, I will, and will let you know as soon as I'm able.

Not as many people made it this year as last. Probably due to it being on a Fri. nite instead of the standard Sat. nite. Like last year, the patio was the main gatherin place for chatting and stories. I think more people actually spent time listening to the two systems this year. Both rooms seemed to have a steady flow, and both were playing selections people brought on cd, and our selections on vinyl. In anticipation of a big turn out, I made a ton of food, and people definately ate their share, but I have ton of leftovers. All in all, I think it was a good time for all, and the weather cooperated again, and it didn't rain on us. I would like to hear from a couple of the guys that dropped by for their impressions. Sorry, no pics.

Thanks for the CAS get together, which I just joined and you’re not kidding about a ton of food
and it was very good.

Both systems were very nice. The Manley Stingray with the Shamrock Eire speakers worked great
In the smaller room, a good match and the stingray looks awesome too.

The main system had a detailed sound but warm and relaxing, you could sit in the big chair in the
sweet spot and just melt. There’s no question (my opinion) that the Galibier/Tri-Planer arm/BenzMicro
with Hagerman Trumpet phono was the star of the show, it sounded wonderful.

Again Thanks.

Thanks for the updates.

On a side note, how does one go about joining the Colorado Audio Society?

Thanks

Thanks Pete, it was great meeting you. I really want to hear your system, I kinda like the SP's, and with that kinda power, I bet they have all kinda dynamics. Hope to see you at the next GTG.
