Considering an after market GPS for my car. Any thoughts re; types, brands, etc?

I bought a Garmin Street Pilot 111 6 years ago, and have been very happy with the brand, service and support.  In GPS terms it's prehistoric but still going strong, so would recommend Garmin on the shopping list.

My TomTom ONE works like a charm if you want a simple unit just for directions.

 I've heard of Tom Tom, but not Garmin.I'll check them out. I need something as close to idiot proof as possible, (pour moi!), and can't think of features other than navigation, that I'd find useful. But I've just started researching.

Count me as another vote for Garman.  Great tool!

Garmin is (I believe) the oldest company that produces GPS/Navigation devices.  Everything I've read says that their top-of-the-line Nav devices are the best, and TomTom makes the best "value" Nav devices.

I use Garmin iQue M3. Pocket PC integrated with  GPS. Bought one on eBay for ~$230, with full mfg warranty and updated maps. Works good, so far (I have it 3-4 months).
