Just have to bump this because I am twitchie with excitement.  Just found out my buddy who works for Superfly Productions got my whole group backstage laminates plus VIP camping on top of the free tickets.  Not bad!  Basiclly we are there to keep his girlfried out of his hair so he can work.  Hopefully I can take some cool pics from on stage.  Although I am not a big fan of listening to the shows onstage because the sound is all F'd up.  Especially if the band is using in ear monitors.  T minus 24hrs aa

Can i send you my resume to give to your friend?    Superfly would be fun to work with!   its one of my favorite T-shirts.

Their riverboat jam cruises back in the hayday of Jazzfest were extraordinary.

Have a blast!!!!

i'm never serious...     Superfly shows are always tops though.

You're gonna have a great weekend!

the line-up is serious this year...  Ornette Coleman, Lou Donaldson/Dr. Lonnie Smith, WSP with Jimmy Herring, MM with no W, galactic + stanton moore's side thing, The Flaming Lips, etc, etc....    too cool.

yeah my girlfriend is determined to be a dancing Santa on stage with the lips.  Unfortunately these is a GREAT looking hiphop show at the same time! BOOOOO!  Galactic with Charli2NA, Mr Lif, gift of Gab etc.  I will most likely watch the lips though.

its a dream of mine to be in a huge Bunny costume & control a confetti blaster on stage at a Lips show.  Maybe even rubbing up on Wayne as he belts out 'ya-ya-ya-ya-ya....awwww, aahwhw, ya-ya-ya-ya-ya-yaaaaa'   If its 95 degrees out your girl may back out of the Santa idea!!

you're gonna have a wild time.

Managing the stages to attend is really the hardest part of an event like that.   Back in the day i was seeing so much live music that i'd gladly partake in a little known band rather than a big act who i can see in an intimate theatre when they come to town.  however, after a few beers and all those women...i just followed the crowds oftentimes.   Outdoor hip-hop is one of my favs.

punch Skerik in the gut for me...he'll know why.    :thumb: :thumb:

the Super Jam with Questlove and Ben Harper is gonna be ridiculous.

Most tiring vacation ever! So tough to see everyone you want its not even funny.
Highlights: BLACK KEYS!!!, Wilco, White Stripes, STS9 and Ween.  Got to watch The White Stripes and Widespread from on the stage which was very cool.  It actually sounded ok.  The "smaller tents" (6k) sounded like crap from side stage though.  My girlfriend got on stage to dance with the Lips so that made her trip.

Here is a pic taken from a helicopter by my friend Whitney.

I just spent a day traveling home from Bonnaroo (Northwest Airlines was incapable of getting an airplane in the air  :cuss:) and another recovering and caught this thread kinda late. What a blast! Highlights for me were Tool (lasers, light shows, rock and roll man  :guitar:), the Lips (the most fun concert) and the Decemberists. Ornette was great, but he passed out from heat stroke after 45 minutes and went to the hospital. Here's hoping he recovers quickly. I could go on but this was a really great experience, even despite the dust bowl conditions (Tennessee is in the middle of a severe drought).

From Billboard...
Quote
There's money in them hills: The just-completed Bonnaroo music festival, put on by Superfly Productions, sold out its 80,000 tickets and raised about $17 million in ticket sales -- up from $14.7 million last year. (Billboard.biz)

Did catch a few performance's on the web....very nice lineup...

W0W, what a line up!  Tool, Flaming Lips, White Stripes, Wilco, Ornette Coleman, etc. Almost all my favorite current groups together. But I had to work. Keep those show reports coming so I can live vicariously thru you lucky attendees.

I listened to the Widespread Panic live webcast...that band is completely different now with Jimmy Herring..   For that scene i think he's the most talented guitarist touring.   What a thrill for WSP fans.

The aerial photo does show a bit of a dustbowl!!    ahhh, brings back many memories.    Typically after a weekend fest like that the water at the bottom of my shower would be black as coffee from all the dirt.

Looks like Superfly had the organization of the entire site well organized...

wish i was there    :thumb:

At least Lollapalooza is just a cabride away for me, but the line-up kinda blows this year.
