Recommendation for an under $100 MP3 Player

What's decent out there with a display?

Is there anything that will allow me to go straight from CD to MP3 player without having to rip to the computer?

I dont believe so, you will still need a computer to rip your cd and convert them into mp3 format.  For the asking price that you want I dont think you could get much especially with a display.  apple.com sells refurbished ipods, also on ebay you get buy ipod clones for under $100 lastly, craiglist is a good place to purchase used gear.  You cant buy much or ask for much for $100

A 2GB Sandisk player like this is probably your best bet under $100 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16855125021

Or Cowan:

As for refurbs, Apple has the current gen iPod Nano 2GB for $110 and the prior gen for $100.

As mentioned, you're pretty much stuck with ripping to the computer unless you want to get something that can record via line-in and transfer that way.  That's going to be pretty annoying (no file naming/tagging, automatic track handling, etc), so I'd only take that route if you don't own a computer at all.  Since you're posting on a web forum, I expect you have some sort of computer already.

The cowons should be good for SQ...

I have a meizu m6 at the moment that sounds quite impressive.   Looks nice to.

Samsung yp-z5 is suposed to be the king of flash players concerning sound quality.    Head-fi is a very good forum for this kind of stuff.

Add some 20 dollar koss ksc75's or 40 dollar Sennheiser px100's and you've got a very nice sounding portable system.    For IEM's have a look at the Crossroads mylarthree at 57 dollars incl. shipping wich should beat most 150 dollars IEM's.... I ordered a pair.

Are there docking stations for non Apple MP3 players or is that a potential major weakness of all non iPods?
