I like some songs on Joss Stone's Soul Sessions CD.  I like it more than her second CD Mind, Body and Soul.  I understand she has another one coming and she will probably promote a lot of the new stuff.  I have never heard Common or Shaw.  Would you go to this show?

FYI, I am ordering tix for John Hiatt and Shawn Colvin together if this gives you an idea of what I like.

Personally, I would go.  I haven't heard of the other two, but I'll go to any show.  See this, though, about Ryan Shaw:

definitely go.

Joss is a cutey and talented, Common is a pimp and Ryan Shaw is supposed to be a badass as well.

that's a weird trio with Common thrown in...

Gooberdude,

This is good, right?  I take it that I shouldn't take my 5 year old girl on this one?

Just don't leave her there!!!!!

Common is a bit of a crossover performer...seems like every few years his soul & R&B style
incorporates more and more hip hop.   he's a great performer from what i've seen, never been to a live show with a lineup like that though.   i'd go for Joss personally, front row!

that show should be better than the last show i went to, a 'Battle of the Bands' 2 weekends ago.  8 bands each had 35 minutes to perform at the 'Note' here...all were death or heavy metal (didn't know these still existed) metal and each one worse & louder than the next.  My buddy's band was in it, and the winner gets a Recording contract so we had to show up.   Kinda funny, his band's name is 'Drug Honkey'.

when their show comes to town, DO NOT BRING YOUR DAUGHTER!!!!

Thanks,

I put in for pit tix -- I hope to see Joss up close.   aa

years ago a good friend gave me a Joss Stone CD, long before she came to the States or was popular.  By the pic on the cover she couldn't have been more than 13.  my friend is hip to enlighten me on 'the next best thing' (manhattanites think they are so cool!) and wanted me to know about Joss B4 she became a household name.

I liked her style though its not my cup of tea (except for staring at her) so i copied the CD for my folks...they were all into how Norah Jones sounded through their Bose set-up at the time.

So nice to visit the folks now and know i won't be bombarded with Norah's killer humming.  i wish that lady would just sing or at least form words.

My mom has Joss' most recent CD, her talent will no doubt continue to grow for many years.  we are lucky indeed.

have fun at the show!

 Hey woodsyi,
If I had the oppurtunity to see Joss Stone live, I wouldn't miss it. Besides the fact that she is a hottie, I think she is a talented singer. I have used her music during many auditions in my store and almost everyone asked who she was and wrote down the name and titles of the albums.

Take pictures and send me some when you get back.

Yo, RAVErs.  The same cast will be putting up a free (?) concert at Central Park Summer Stage on June 8th.  A show here is always free, right?

A pimp?  I don't follow Hip Hop very close anymore and I'm far from being up to date on the lingo but I never heard anyone describe Common as being a pimp.   Was that a compliment?      As far as I know, Common's not exactly into the bling bling and misogynistic lyrics and videos.   Now if your calling 50 Cent a pimp,,,I understand where your coming from.

So, how was the concert?

The concert down here at Wolf Trap is on June 13.  They just announced the season yesterday, but contributors get to order before public sales which starts on Saturday.  I got my orchestra pit tickets.   :thumb:

Should I stay or should I go now?
If I go there will be trouble
An if you stay it will be double
So come on and let me know...

This indecision's bugging me

... conscience does make cowards of us all,
And thus the native hue of resolution
Is sicklied o'er with the pale cast of thought,
And enterprises of great pitch and moment
With this regard their currents turn awry,
And lose the name of action.

Oh, such Clashing quotes....

Apparently Common pulled out due to "prior engagement."  It will just be Stone Shaw.   I guess I won't be seeing a rapper live after all.   :dunno:
