Power cord recommendations for Flying Mole amps
« on: 9 Apr 2007, 12:33 am »
I have just ordered a pair of Flying Mole DAD-M100 PRO HT amps and would like to get some recommendations for a decent power cord that isn't too expensive. Under $100.00 ea. for a 4 or 5 ft length would be preferred. The other thing is, because these amps are so small and light, the it would be helpfull if the power cord isn't too stiff and/or heavy.
Thanks.

There is of course the much talked about Volex cords for $12 or so - I've not heard them.

But I can vouch for Bizzy Bee Audio's excellent and economical Iron Lung Jellyfish cords - on sale for the past several weeks: http://www.angelfire.com/biz/bizzyb/FROPOWER.html

It's 14ga, the entire cord including the ends are hospital grade (so, the wire isn't heavy 0r stiff at 14ga and the connection is very snug and secure as it's hospital grade everything).  It's not shielded, but neither is any captive cord.  If you have to, or want to shield it, but a couple Highwire Powerwraps for $25 a piece.  For about $40 a cord you have a super, hospital grade cord that's has great RF rejection without the slightly etched/congested sound that heavily shielded cords tend to have.

Enjoy 'dem Moles... :thumb:

Oh brother......power cords huh? Buy one that's not too expensive.....you know maybe 4 or 5 bucks. Don't they already come with a power cord? Why change then. I think cables and power cords are the latest "fad" and "trendy" thing to do. Why?  beats me. perhaps too many people have extra cash they don't know what to do with. Here's a hint....help out a homelss person or donate to a local charity. makes you feel good and you won't have to keep buying cables to explain your existance........okay I'm done ranting now. Wasn't aimed at just you, but EVERYBODY here. :duh:

Of all of the posts I've read lately this has to be one of the most obnoxious and idiotic. (Until I read some of your other posts).
I don't do anything because it's "trendy" or a "fad". I found that, despite my initial skepticism, that power cords, speaker cables and interconnects can make a dramatic difference in how a system can sound. Sometimes for the worse. God knows why I just wasted my time explaining that to you.
The statement about buying cables to explain my existence... I don't even know what to say about that. Maybe someone else can interpret that one for me because to me it's gibberish. However, it would seem obvious as to what your existence depends on.
Don't hijack this thread any further, and I would ask anyone else tempted to jump in with a similar post trying to save me from buying cables to "explain my own existence" to please refrain.

Sorry for having posted that response to Fiji in your thread Tweeker, yours was only the second thread I read as I logged on today and in both threads the bloke was making some silly noise about his view of things... and since he was pissing on 'everyone' on AC ...
I have heard differences with changes of power cords, can't explain it, but I know what I heard... Check Element Cable link below, cords are reasonable, $60. or so...

Nothing you said, (or did) needs to be apologized for. I thought it was very appropriate.
Thanks for the Element Cable heads up. The Jellyfish cord looks interesting but no return policy so the Element may fit the bill.
