Red Wine and Omega in Montreal!!!
« on: 17 Apr 2007, 01:19 am »
I have posted a number of photos on a separate thread of some of the rooms I visited at the Montreal show.
I felt I wanted to post a new thread about Red Wine Audio and Omega Speaker Systems because grouping these 2 great young guys with the rest of the photos would not have allowed me to properly
comment on Vinnie from Red Wine and Louis from Omega.
Firstly, their room was one of the best sounding rooms to my ears of the entire show!
I bumped into Robert Deutsch of Sterophile and he told me how impressed he was with the sound of this great combo!!  What a compliment.
Secondly, you will not find 2 finer people to talk to and to deal with in our hobby.  They were modest to a fault.  When people would compliment them on the great music emenating from the room they would blush with an almost "Aw shucks" reaction.
I wish these guys great success in the future.  They really desrve it!!!!

Vinnie on the left and Louis on the right.

That's Vinnie, the new proud Papa.  Look on the floor.  Two gorgeous
Signature 70 Monoblocks featured in Mahogany wood made by Louis from Omega.  Also featured is the Modded Olive Musicserver.

Here's Louis holding his crown jewel the MaxHemp which puts out some smooth single driver sounds for $2495.00
Also on the display are the $949.00 Super 3XRS little babies which are as fast as the Roadrunner!!

Great weekend boys!

Hi Spirit,

It was a real pleasure to meet you in person, and I want to thank you for taking the time to visit our room and give a good listen.  After meeting you, I can understand how the TAAS has started off so successfully!

The NY AudioRave 2006 CD that you brought is amazing (Chris made me a copy and it is killer!)... thanks for bringing it!  Actually, I had quite a few of the CDs that Chris (and Gordy) made for me playing during the weekend... great stuff!  8)

Louis and I really had a fun time meeting so many nice visitors (and members of the press), and were very pleased with the way things sounded.... considering the not-so-ideal acoustics and noise in the hotel.

One thing was for sure... we could care less about the quality of the AC in the room, as it was only used for the lights!  :green:    We were joking that it would be funny if the hotel lost power because we'd still have a room playing music.  Of course, it would have then gotten very crowded and I'm sure people would be demanding bottles of red wine

Many thanks, Spirit!  Yeah.. it was very cool that Robert stopped over and I later found out that he plugged us on Stereophile:

We really couldn't be happier and we are definitely doing it again next year (that will be our 4th year)!

Next up is the Sterephile Show in NYC next month  :hyper:

Thanks again,

Vinnie

I could see a fun marketing poster outside of this room using the battery-powered theme:

"If the hotel loses power, we'll still be in business.....

...BYOC (Bring Your Own Candles -- or Flashlight)."

Throw in a picture in between the two half-sentences of someone in a kerchief holding a candle in the dark.

Have the poster coated with some of that glow-in-the-dark material so that it would stand out.

I think that you'd have (yet another) way to call attention to your room.....as if great sound at reasonable prices -- that few other vendors can come close to --  isn't enough.   :D

Best, -dB  (enjoying his Sig 30 and Altmann DAC with a pair of Horning Ultimates.....and, after a long search, with precious little desire to poke around and see "what else is out there")

Actually, I was thinking it might be fun to go further.  Keep off all the lights in the room, hand out flash lights at the door, and advertise that "no public utility was harmed during this audio demonstration".....or perhaps I just need a good night's sleep.

-dB ( a unit measure of noise)

Chris -
On my true word of honour, theri room was outstanding.
One can argue until tomorrow regarding the attributes of battery power and then mated with digital amps.
But one thing is for certain - when you are sitting in the sweet spot, the background of the sounstage is absolutely dead quiet!  If one doesn't think that you have noise from AC, then I suggest listening to this system.
