Hi Rocket, I hope you audition of the Godin goes well.  If you just starting out, I think it will be a  long time before you outgrow the instrument (if you ever do).  I wouldn't regret ever having learned trumpet.  I played trombone from 4th grade until I graduated from college.  I had a lot of fun with it and would never have minored in music had it not been for the trombone.

hi mojoman,

i went to my muso friend's house today and bought his godin.  it is in quite good condition with only one or two minor blemishes.

i also had a lesson and have started by learning a few different cords.  he is going to give me free lessons for a while to get me started, i can't go wrong  :) .

anyway just have to buy a practice amp which i will do next week.

regards

rocket

btw it cost me $500 au probably seems a bit steep for you in the us but the au dollar has been quite weak for several years now.

Hi Rocket,  congrats on the guitar purchase.  It's great you've got someone to teach you to help you get started.  You'll be able to advance a lot faster with a good teacher.

Have fun with the Godin!

Gibson rules!!!

If you can afford it, Gibson is sweet!!!  Us working folks have to hang with our Martins. .    ;-)

Nothing like a good slope-shouldered J-45 with the sunburst finish that ONLY Gibson can do RIGHT. . .

Sweet guitar.

Rules? Yes and no. Depends on what you want.

I play a bunch of electric and acoustic guitars, basses and keyboards, including the Les Paul.

BTW. Found this at ebay.

I have one of these, but it's white with black trim.  It's been sitting in its case for probably 10+ years.  I just pulled it out, got some new strings and bought an instructional DVD.  I have a Fender amp.  Studio 85 I think.

The tips of my fingers are very sore.

Try either the VOX AC-15,  VOX Cambridge 15, or even the VOX Pathfinder-15 R with the Teles, with 11 half round or flat strings.

I much prefer VOX over Marshall, or Fender with Teles.

Man. Nothing can even touch, or come close to the combination. IMO.

My 2nd choice is the old Fender Bassman with the Teles.

Hi Everyone,
I liked this topic so I thought I would chime with my gear list.

Main guitars- '96 Larrivee L-05 Mahogany back and sides (still one of the entire handmade models)
                 - '90 Music Man Silhouette w/ Rio Rrande Muy Grande P/Us in a SSS configuration.  This guitar is amazing and is in perfect condition.  It has a fat (just they way I like it) birds eye neck and solid ash body with three tone sunburst finish.

My main amp is a custom Emery Sound Superbaby.  If you are not familiar with this, you've gotta check out his website @ www.emerysound.com .  The superbaby is a class A, low wattage, SET design with an "auto-bias" so switching tube types is easy and recommended.  This amp is very touch sensitive and so toneful.

My other equipment that does not see much action consists of a Fender Deluxe 112 60W combo that I have had for years, a Mesa/Boogie V-twin rack mount pre-amp and a Carvin DC-127.

Thanks for looking

chino

I just bought my 3 year old and Fender Mini Strat.  I mean Santa is bringing him a Mini Strat.

Anyway, if starting early worked for Tiger Woods, maybe my little guy will be the next SRV, or Jimi H by the time he's 10 or so.
