You might have heard the result of the voltage on the rails dropping and the
diff pair becoming unbalanced which could have resulted in the RF break through.
You kind of have the ultimate noisy neighbor from an RF standpoint.

That's a little tough to do with a linear regulated power supply that powers the amp. and since the power supply also uses feedback, (it's a variation on the good old op amp feedback regulator) the regulation is good enough to hold the rails at the set for voltage at full power into 2 ohms. In addition the condition that you cite does negate the fact that the inherent error correction of negative feedback is still working. If it wasn't the amplifier would go open loop and there would be really gross clipping.
   I would like to note once again that sts9fan may not be in a strong enough field to require shielded speaker cables. That's going to be a bit of trial error on his part to find out the where and why.
