Which wireless router for SB?
« on: 4 Mar 2007, 03:34 am »
I have a small Netgear router that cannot upgrade its antenna.  It does not have enough poop to keep a signal all the way across the house and down to the basement.  tried a second Netgear hooked to my house netowrk but that didn't work.  So I'd like to know who is having success with wireless SB's and wireless routers.  What brands and models have the range I am not getting?

Take a look at this router. By far, this is a better router than Linksys and Netgear . I get excellent reception throughout my house than the other two fore mentions and no signal dropout even with multiple wireless devices running simultaneously.  You can also flash  free DD-WRT firmware if you feel adventurous. :)

I started with a Netgear MIMO model that seemed to require a reboot way to frequently. I switched to a ZyXEL X-550 ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16833181218 ) and couldn't be happier. It has a dedicated chipset that prioritizes streaming data like music with the SB and VOIP phone systems which I also have. I average a 95% signal and no drop out. I also haven't had to reboot it in about 4 months. It also has a very strong signal anywhere in my 2 story home.
