HD-DVD player as redbook CD transport ?
« on: 8 Mar 2007, 02:23 am »
I'm finally installing a projector in my media room (JVC DLA-RS1) and am going to buy a Toshiba HD-XA2 HD-DVD player.  Has anyone used this or another HD-DVD player as a redbook transport ?  I'd like to know if it will do a good job of extracting the 16bit/44.1khz signal off my CDs and sending the bits through the coaxial digital output with minimal jitter, or if high end audio will necessitate a dedicated CD transport.

Right now I'm using a Meridian G98DH DVD transport but this will be sold in the near future.  Too bad Meridian doesn't have a high definition player because I love their products.

Eric: PM me and I'll bring over my Toshiba HDA1 HD-DVD player with a bunch of movies you can try ....

in exchange for a little help with how to setup my Tact  2.2x :D

PS I have been blown away by the audio quality from normal DVD and HD-DVD's from this unit.. It Killed my Momitsu DVD player and other DVD players I have used including my HTPC.
