I just upgraded to the Mini and like them very much but dont feel my electricronics are doing them any justice. I am driving them with an HK635 and my source is digital input from 1212m sound card via coax. It sounds pretty good but am very curious what an external dac would do. I tried hooking them up to a pro audio amp I have just resting and using the HK as just a pre pro and the difference was very sutle. My question is should I just wait and invest in a new pre pro with better dac or should I take a serious look at the lite dac60. And how does it get hooked up? I have tried hooking up my denon universial to the analog out and not at all impressed (BB chips). I felt it was tinny and lacked bass. When hooked up in this fashion I didnt have any control over the bass and wonder about the external dac. How do you control the bass when hooked up in analog bypass? Does a good external dac not need bass control? Thanks

Why not retire your cd player and get a Squeezebox? http://www.slimdevices.com/
It will probably have better sound quality than your cd player and the convenience of a fully integrated computer based audio system will be  an eye opener. If you desire even better sound quality perhaps some mods would be appropriate.http://www.boldercables.com/servlet/Detail?no=372

Thanks! I believe the Squeezebox will be one of my next purchases but the Dac60 is still a question. I actually use the 1212m sound card spdif out 99% of the time as a source. I believe the analog out on the sb3 is not that great. So even once I drop the sound card in favor of the sb3 I still need good dacs. The bolder mods to analog are not cheap and I wonder how they would compare to the dac60?
I have heard alot of people using tube amps to power the mini's and wonder if the tube dac would be just the ticket?
