Horn based Movie Theater Speakers FS
« on: 3 Feb 2007, 10:03 pm »
Hey Guys,

For anyone who is interested my dad knows a guy who runs a cinema equipment company who has some older, horn based movie theater speakers for sale.  I haven't checked them out so I don't even know what brand they are.  Supposedly they are pretty big though.

If you are interested please contact:

John Mattler at (314) 487-3283

Here's a map of the location:

Hey Willie,

Let me know what you find out.  I was going to buy them but I found out how big they were and I'm also light on cash right now.

On Thursday I finally got to talk to to John. This is John Mattler of Ringold Cinema Equipment Company.
   He said they had :
     3 Altec A7-500's and 3 Frazier Texan's
    10 Klipsch Heresy
4 EV  two way wall mounts
2 rebuilt Gromme tube Theater amps
Stack of TOA SS Theather amps
several racks of other theater amp.
So I went to take a look, we went to their warehouse where I checked out the A7's
There were 3 cabinets with woofers a pair of mantaray fibreglass Horns with Altec 299-8A
drivers, a multicellular horn with driver and an ancient PA horn w/driver. I made a deal for
   A7's and horns.
So I went back today to seal the deal and pick up the horns. While there John offered to make
deal on the Texans and Klipsch's too. But I told him I'd think about it and would tell the GAS guys
about the cheap Heresy's that could be had.
By the time I got home, I got a call from John saying, soon after I left a guy came by and
bought all the other speakers and amps. That was quick !
Well I'll post pics later of my haul !
     Have fun!
      Willie
