:DThats a relief,  I know its good to use low esr on the adjust pin but low esr can cause instabillity on the output unless you stick a low value resistor in series to gnd.
Sounds like you have some serious filtering in that supply

Anybody have the schematic that used to be posted on the Sean Adams website?

I did not save it, and it is not online anymore.

Has anybody tried the LT323AT  for a Squeezebox reg?

I've been playing with SiMetrix on a couple of different PS designs for the SB. The one I'm considering right now uses dual LT1085s in a tracking preregulator design. I also intend to use the 4-pole Jensens (already had them on hand, and the fact that Wayne is using them in his Ultimate II is a good endorsement). I frequent diyaudio as well, and there I just get a headache after a while. What's got me right now are two things: should an RC parallel still be used if I'm using the Jensens, and should I still consider using an additional shunt regulator to improve the noise rejection in the higher frequency range?

Thanks
Someone actually already emailed it to me, but I appreciate the post.

What is SiMetrix?

Apparently, it's like Spice:

http://www.catena.uk.com/

Spice is a similator for electrical circuits.  It has its own programming language.  Certain programs, like Simetrix, add a schematic interface and other interfaces to a Spice "engine".  This way, you don't have to remember the Spice language and can work in schematics, which is more intuitive.  This looks like it also offers a variety of additional enhancements.

Bob got to the answer before me. The other nice thing about SiMetrix is that for small circuits (the kind we are talking about here) it is free for use with full functionality. I don't remember the actual node limit, but when the circuit gets larger than a certain number of nodes you have to get a licensed version. Then it gets pricey.

Anybody tried a better op-amp in the SB3's output?  something like LM4562 or THS4082?

I had planned to give the LM4562 a try, but with my rate of progress it will be '09 before it gets done.

You managed to get a LM4562 but not tried it :duh:   :D
I have a THS4082 but I'm not sure if it will be suitable in the SB's circuit where as the 4562 should be fine, come on Josh try it out and let us know how it sounds

On the subject of SPICE simulators, Linear Technology makes a full featured simulator available free of charge.

http://www.linear.com/company/software.jsp

It has it quirks but overall works very well and is free regardless of the circuit designed/simulated.

I recently build a new +- 15V supply for a Marchand XM44 and it (LT SwitcherCAD III) was very useful to try different configurations to see what resulted in a quick rise time, low ringing and low ripple.
